The closest golf course is the Playa Dorada,
located in Puerto Plata,
approximately 30 minutes from
ApartaHotel Picaflores. It is an 18 hole, par 72, 6730 yard-course designed by the famous architect Robert Trent Jones
senior. Transportation from the complex is approximately 12 $ CAD.

What are the main means of transportation? |
|
Guaguas, taxis, motoconchas (moto-taxi) and comfortable air conditioned buses
for long distance trips.

We don't speak Spanish. Is it possible to find assistance to
organize visits or outings? |
|
For visits, people usually get together in small groups of 6 to 8 persons
and rent a minivan with or without a driver. There is also a Spanish teacher who speaks English and French
you can hire as a guide. |

What kind of food stores are there in the area? |
|
A Dominican convenience store in the vicinity, and a supermarket in Sosua. |

Is the supermarket well stockied? |
| The Sosua supermarket can be compared to a Canadian grocery store. |

Which are the safety measures in place at the complex, if any? |
|
The only access to the complex is throught the reception.
Reception staff is on duty from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Outside these hours,
the door is locked. Guests must use their key or wait for the
watchman's round. An armed night watchman patrols the grounds all
night. |

Do you have access to Internet? |
|
Yes, there is Internet access on the premises and several Internet cafes in town. |

Is it possible to invite friends in the apartments? |
|
Yes, you may visit people in the complex and receive your friends.
Because of the safety measures, you will have to accompany them to
the door if they leave after 9 p.m. |

Can you recommend an airline? |
|
No, we cannot recommend any airline in particular. However, for longer stays
(more than 2 weeks), American companies usually offer the best
deals. |

How do we do for the laundry?
|
|
Clients have free use of an automatic washing machine.
Reasonably priced laundry services are also available on the
premises. |

What is the difference between a condo and a studio? |
|
The main difference is in the size. A condo is approximately 160 ft2 with a semi-closed bedroom partition off the main living area and a studio is 154 ft2. Both
have a full bathroom. |

Is there a television set in every condo? |
|
No, there is a television set at the reception. For
long stays (3 months and over) it is possible to make
arrangements with management to have the cable installed in your
apartment. This will give you access to about 40 channels, mostly in
Spanish, some in English and two in French. |

What should we bring? |
|
For a long stay, we recommend you bring the following items: hermetic
plastic containers to protect food from ants, a contour sheet for a queen
size bed as a mattress cover, beach towels, gas stove lighter or long matches, personal
face cloths, plastic clothe line and clothe pins, insect repellent,
radio, flashlight and your favourite herbs and spices.
